I'm now officially the Jonses, with my new Core 2 Duo Macbook, or I would be if I weren't a professional in the IT world, and was supposed to own the coolest, most elite hardware imaginable. I feel a certain sense of peer pressure for having bought this particular model. I bought a kid's computer and in so doing, have demonstrated a certain lack of seriousness.
To those who say such things, I say: fooey. This computer is awesome. I've had it about 3 days now, and it's fast, clean, rock solid stable. Unlike the previous generation, it runs cool. It came with a gig of ram which is plenty for the foreseeable future. I've tried running IntelliJ Idea and Blender-3d (in short, applications considered demanding) and they're zippy. I have nothing to complain about with this lovely piece of hardware. I'm very pleased to own it.
I also enjoy the unobtrusive aspects. It's not showy. It's small. It's plastic. It's white. I'm hiding in plain site. It looks like a giant iPod.
It's a great computer. Perhaps it will melt into a pool of singed plastic within a week, but right now, I'd recommend one to anyone getting a laptop for just about any purpose.
